In 1960, the family started another
location in Rutland, Vermont, calling it Splitface
Marble Corporation and specializing in marble products.
In the 1970's, an existing quarry and
fabricating plant in Sidney, NY was purchased from American Bluestone.
This location was called Heldeberg
Bluestone of Unadilla. While the name "American Bluestone" was
purchased along with the property, it was decided to rename this plant
to carry on the Heldeberg name recognition.
Also during the 1970's, Splitface Marble Corporation
was moved from Rutland, VT to Glens Falls, NY. A farm property near
the Glens Falls airport was purchased and the big
old barn was renovated to make room for a large showroom.
The story doesn't
stop at the 1970's.... Heldeberg continued on through the millenium
to the present day. We're searching for just the right photos to add
to this page so we can tell you what went on in the 80's, 90's and
beyond. But we will tell you that Paul and Eleanor look a little older
than they did in the photo above!
